Perth to Kilbarra NP

Hallo,

Did you miss me? I am a little bit in short supply with reliable internet, thus I hope that I can post now.

I covered the ground from Perth north to Kilbarra. Today I am already in Money Mia, but I will write about that in my next post.

Let me share my experiences with you:

My first thought was: Do not wear a yellow shirt if you don't want to attract all sorts of flying insects here...but having tried everything... you always attract all kinds of flying insects here...simply because they are desperatly trying to find some moisture and you are a very good source...seen from an insects perspective. Number one in attaining this moisture from you is the "common house fly".... millions of them..They drive you crazy! Only wind or air conditioning fends them off...and I do NOT have air conditioning :-(

Secondly: "rolling bushes" as well as kangaroos do not look left or right when they cross the steet. Little "windhoses" don't as well.... :-O

I learned that this shire in Western Australia has the size of Germany and is inhabited by 100.000 people....hmmm... But it gets clear if you look at the arid and life-threatening surroundings here...I wonder that there are those 100.000 people at all here. There is nearly no water at all and the heat is nearly unbearable (without air conditioning....<no comment>)

The longerst stretch of straight road without a curve (and with the term "curve" I mean the slightes curve which would trigger an even so small movement of the streering wheel at all...) was 61 km... and it would have gone on, if I haden't had to take a turn... :-)

However visiting as a tourist the landscape is fascinating. The colours wonderful and amazing!
You will see some of that in my pictures.

Take enough water and sunscreen and a hat and don't move out of the shade or at all between 10:30 and 16:00 and you are fine! :-)
(That, by the way, eplains why australian people do not move from the shade in front of their caravans till 17:00 :-)....)

I am sending you my best regards!!!

Enjoy looking at the pictures!

Perth & Fremantle

Hallo! :-)

Here I am in Perth and after three days of sun here I look like a red lobster :-)
What a surprise! ;-)

Perth is a very nice, relaxed city although by wandering through the shopping area today I was surprised of how many people do NOT work on a monday! But I hope this is due to christman and those thousands of people were doing late christmas shopping :-) I guess there is no difference to us in that regard.
I watched them detached and am so happy that I am left out from christmas this year :-)

Fremantle is totally different from Perth somehow, but also very nice! I visited the World Heritage Fremantle prison and had first contact with the sea. Yeah!

Some of you might find the botanical garden boring but I liked it a lot, because the many eucalyptus and peppermint tress and grass... made it a smelling adventure. I love the smell of eucalyptus leaves! Spending half a day in the Kings Park and botanical garden was wonderful! This is reflected in my pictures today! :-)

Tomorrow I get my car and then will start my way up north!
I am sending you sun and warmth from here!

I wish you all a happy christmas and that you can relax during the free days!

All the best from western australia!

Winter in Delhi

Hallo,

At last some news from me.:-)
India in winter.. what does it mean? It means between 15 and 20°C and Indian men all wear scarfs, gloves and caps and suffer a lot from the cold whereas all western tourist wear T-Shirts or at miximum pullovers and enjoy the warmth in  the sun. :-) But that is not all, today I found goats which were equipped and dressed with winter coats... because otherwise they might freeze? I have seen children here wearing less...???

But what else to say:

  • the taximeter in tuktuks continue counting km very fast even though traffic is at a standstill, so go for the fixed fare in advance
  • don't intend to use any motor vehicle during afternoon "rush hours" in Delhi...walking will turn out much faster
  • if you are a woman alone everybody....EVERYBODY...looks at you. But if you are a woman alone wearing a headscarf...nobody looks at you! :-) it's like a cap that makes you invisible. :-) that's great! though how it works still fascinates me.
  • if an indian person asks you for the time - suspicious on its own - he just wants to check if you are wearing an expensive watch..so wear the chinese fake or none at all
  • wether the people speak english or indian or anything else...all sounds the same! ;-) Sometimes, in the intent to understand how much the driver wants for the ride ("How much did you say?"), I unconsiously bargain with him, because I just don't understand the sum he wants to tell me...but probably he thinks: "she is really a hard negotiator"...and everytime he mentiones lower sums, till I finally understand him, I probaby have bargained him down to a much lower number than he first told me ;)
  • tuktuk driver and rickshaw driver consider even 20m of walking too dangerous and strenous for a woman
  • young indian girls want to be photographed by you together with their best girlfriend and want to tell you their names, young indian boys want to take a picture with you in front of their friends -> what does this tell us about gender characteristics?

Generally spoken I enjoy the days very much! There is so much to see! But I am also glad when I come home to the hotel all in one each evening feeling rather exhausted. :-)
Here are some pictures .... :-)

Sending you all the best from Delhi.

No Post so far... as there is nothing to be said about rainy, cloudy and foggy Vienna. :-)
