Perth to Kilbarra NP

Hallo,

Did you miss me? I am a little bit in short supply with reliable internet, thus I hope that I can post now.

I covered the ground from Perth north to Kilbarra. Today I am already in Money Mia, but I will write about that in my next post.

Let me share my experiences with you:

My first thought was: Do not wear a yellow shirt if you don't want to attract all sorts of flying insects here...but having tried everything... you always attract all kinds of flying insects here...simply because they are desperatly trying to find some moisture and you are a very good source...seen from an insects perspective. Number one in attaining this moisture from you is the "common house fly".... millions of them..They drive you crazy! Only wind or air conditioning fends them off...and I do NOT have air conditioning :-(

Secondly: "rolling bushes" as well as kangaroos do not look left or right when they cross the steet. Little "windhoses" don't as well.... :-O

I learned that this shire in Western Australia has the size of Germany and is inhabited by 100.000 people....hmmm... But it gets clear if you look at the arid and life-threatening surroundings here...I wonder that there are those 100.000 people at all here. There is nearly no water at all and the heat is nearly unbearable (without air conditioning....<no comment>)

The longerst stretch of straight road without a curve (and with the term "curve" I mean the slightes curve which would trigger an even so small movement of the streering wheel at all...) was 61 km... and it would have gone on, if I haden't had to take a turn... :-)

However visiting as a tourist the landscape is fascinating. The colours wonderful and amazing!
You will see some of that in my pictures.

Take enough water and sunscreen and a hat and don't move out of the shade or at all between 10:30 and 16:00 and you are fine! :-)
(That, by the way, eplains why australian people do not move from the shade in front of their caravans till 17:00 :-)....)

I am sending you my best regards!!!

Enjoy looking at the pictures!

Renate
